Earlier in the year I was lucky to see up yo 5 kingfishers around the mouth of the river Esk in Musselburgh. Over the last few weeks I spent a number of sometimes freezing hours photographing kingfishers fishing around Duddingston loch, mainly from a hide in Bawsinch nature reserve. Putting up with the sudden drop in winter temperatures was well worth it.
