India - Kanha National Park December 2010
A fabulous national park in the heart of India. Well worth the 3 flights and 6 hour car journey to get there!
TIgers are the main attraction for many. However, there are all told 43 species of mammals including predators such as leopard and wild dog, herbivores such as Gaur (giant wild cattle) and Chital (spotted deer), scavengers including hyena and jackal. Smaller mammals like hares, porcupine and mongoose are also present. The park has nearly 300 spcies of birds (some resident others migratory) and more snakes than I care to think about.
I photographed some of these animals but there is plenty of scope for a return visit....
NB Click on the individual photos to enlarge them and to see further text regarding that photo/animal.
