Red Grouse Peeking…Handa island

A family of red grouse greeted us shortly after we landed on Handa island amongst the ruins of a deserted village.
Handa is managed by the Scottish Wildlife Trust and The island is important as each summer nearly 100,000 seabirds gather to breed, including internationally important numbers of guillemot, razorbill and great skua plus 250 pairs of puffin breed here.
